This square piano is a beautiful prime example of a Chickering square piano from the 1870's era. Chickering was the first piano manufacturer in America, established in 1823 and is said to have built the finest pianos in the world. Long before names such as Steinway, etc., Chickering held top awards world wide for piano design and manufacturing. This piano is being internally restored and refinished to like new condition. Note the elaborate carvings on the legs and music rack, as well as the ornate casting in the metal harp inside. The delicate "harp like" tone of these square pianos is truly one of the loveliest sounds one can experience. Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired.
