This piano was built as the Music Room Grand by the famous Chickering Piano Company in 1928, a prime era for American piano building. Chickering was the first piano manufacturer in America, and they are known for building some of the best pianos in history. Just a little larger than a baby grand, this piano found its place in the homes of serious musicians. It is of the traditional style with nice moldings and details, with well proportioned lines. It is made of real mahogany wood with a hand rubbed black satin lacquer finish. It feels like silk to touch. Most new black pianos are made of pressed wood composite with acrylic plastic laminate! This piano is being restored to like new condition inside and out. The tone and touch are just wonderful, and would easily please a discriminating pianist. A matching bench is included. This piano can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired.
