DESCRIPTION

This lovely baby piano built by the famous Chickering & Sons Piano Company of Boston. The early 20th Century saw a revival in classic historical furniture styles and finishes. This is a stunning custom made Spanish Renaissance / Mission style baby grand piano that would have been designed for a period style Southwestern, Spanish or Craftsman style home.
This piano is made of beautiful mahogany wood and is finished in a distressed red crackle finish with natural mahogany, black lacquer and gold accents. Note the intricately carved legs which are supported by beautiful wrought ironwork. One can only imagine what palatial period-inspired estate was originally home to this beautiful piano. This piano has been restored to historically correct standards, and is like new in every detail. This beautiful piano has a smooth, even tone which would best be described as "warm and mellow". This is an instrument which is a joy to play!
This piano is a bit amazing because it was built and sold new in 1931 at the height of the Great Depression! With baby grand pianos like this selling new for several hundred dollars, only a wealthy few could afford such a luxury in 1931.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
The original matching bench is included.
