Beautifully Carved Weber Full Size Concert Grand Piano
The Weber Piano Company was one of the leading American piano companies of the 19th and 20th centuries, and is noted for their high quality, expensive pianos.
This piano is a rare example of Weber’s “Concert Grand” model, a full-size concert grand piano built for the Victorian stage. Original Weber Piano Company sales catalogs show this model selling new for $1,400, the cost of a small house in the 19th Century! The instrument is made of endangered Brazilian Rosewood and is of the heavily carved Rococo Victorian style. This piano appears to have been refurbished and refinished many years ago and the finish has badly faded. The front two legs were replaced with carved octagonal legs, but will be replaced with original Cabriole-style legs when restored. With a little imagination, one can appreciate the potential beauty of this instrument.
This piano will be restored with historical accuracy, both inside and out, making it a concert quality instrument once again. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc. Thousands of song titles are available.
Although restoration for this magnificent piano is freshly underway, there is still ample time for the customer to make personal modifications to the finished product. As previously mentioned, a viable option prior to the refinishing process is for alternate front legs to be fit to match the historically accurate rear leg of the piano. This choice can still be made as there are months remaining until the restoration process is complete!
An appraisal that was made prior to restoration is available upon request.
An original matching piano stool is included.
