Steinway is said to have built the best pianos in the world. This piano is a small upright, generally called a “cottage upright” and was designed with smaller Victorian homes and parlors in mind. It is made of lavishly carved rosewood, and has heavily carved cabriole legs and moldings. Note the beautifully cut grillwork in the front panel.
These early Steinway cottage upright pianos are very rare due to the popularity of the square piano during the mid 19th Century. It was not until about 1885 that the upright piano gained favor over the square piano in America. This piano will be completely restored from a historical perspective. A Pianomation player system can be installed if desired. A matching piano stool is included.
