Very rare Newman Brothers & Sons Square Grand Piano. Brazilian Rosewood, Empire Revival Style

Prior to the establishment of the Chicago based Newman Brothers Piano Company in 1880, the forefathers of Newman Brothers owned and operated a small firm in Baltimore under the name of Newman Brothers & Sons. This is the only known example of a piano by Newman Brothers & Sons to have survived through history.
Built in about 1850, this piano is made of beautifully carved Brazilian Rosewood and is of the classic Empire Revival style. This piano is ornately adorned with beautiful Mother-of-Pearl inlay both inside the instrument on the harp and on the area around the keyboard. These pianos adorned with Mother-of-Pearl inlay were some of the most expensive, high grade pianos money could buy in 1850. This piano has been restored to like new condition, inside and out, and has a lovely delicate tone one expects from a beautifully restored American square grand piano. An original matching stool is included.
