The firm of Knabe & Gaehle was one of the most important manufacturers names in 19th Century American piano history. The firm only lasted from 1839 – 1854, but their short partnership made a substantial impression on the American piano industry at large. In fact, pianos are still being built under the Knabe name today!
This piano is a custom-made, one of a kind instrument done in the Gothic Influenced style. One can only imagine some immense Baronial mansion proudly displaying this magnificent instrument! The piano is made of Brazilian Rosewood and is adorned with extensively carved legs, lyre and moldings. The piano has an overall “castle” appearance which is simply awesome to see in person!
The piano is being restored to like-new condition, inside and out. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
