DESCRIPTION

The Sohmer Piano Company is one of the most celebrated old American piano manufacturers. The Sohmer Piano Company was established in 1872, and the firm built high-quality, expensive pianos for well over a century. Although the Sohmer name may not be as familiar with the general public as some other old American names, the Sohmer name is well recognized within musical circles and among professional musicians.
This lovely piano was built by the Sohmer Piano Company in 1884. It is a large, full size square grand piano with the full, rich tone quality Sohmer was famous for. Being such a late instrument makes this piano very well evolved and fairly “modern” in design for a square grand piano. The instrument is made of Brazilian Rosewood and is of the carved Rococo Cabriole-Leg style design. The piano has all indications of being an impressive instrument after restoration.
