Elegant Lester Victorian Upright Piano In Carved Quarter Sawn Oak Cabinet
The Lester Piano Company was a hallmark in American piano manufacturing during the first part of the 20th Century. They built exceptionally made pianos from 1888-1960.
This piano is a full size upright grand, and is made of beautifully carved Quarter Sawn Oak wood in the Victorian style. Oak Victorian pianos are less common than mahogany or rosewood because the darker finishes were more popular at the time. Since oak was a common domestic wood, it was not considered to be exotic and was rarely used for piano cabinets until the ‘teens and ‘twenties, making it rare and desirable on carved Victorian style pianos like this one. Note the beautifully carved pillars and carved panels and trusses.
This piano is being restored to like new condition, inside and out. It can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired.
