Rare World War II Era Lester Sheraton Studio Piano
Few American piano manufacturers survived The Great Depression, fewer even still survived World War II. During this era, American manufacturers began building smaller, less expensive pianos in order to meet modern market demands. In the modern market filled with smaller, inexpensive pianos, there were a few exceptions of very well-made instruments that deserve restoration and preservation.
This lovely piano is one of those exceptions. Built by the Lester Piano Company of Philadelphia, this instrument is a rare example of a larger, well-made mid-century modern studio-size upright piano. Note the triple-strung unisons in the bass – a rare feature only found on the finest quality pianos. The instrument is made of richly-figured walnut wood and is of the carved Sheraton style. This instrument would have been originally built for a home of sophistication and refinement.
The piano will be completely restored with historical accuracy, both inside and out. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music from any smart device. More than 10,000 song titles are available!
The original matching Sheraton style piano bench is included.
