DESCRIPTION
This square grand piano was built by the Smith-Atherton Piano Company of New York City during the height of the lavish Victorian era. There is little information available about the Smith-Atherton firm in our archives, which tells us that it was most likely a small, family-owned company.
The cabinet is made of rare Brazilian Rosewood which was the standard for high quality building among the manufacturers of the time. It is a unique piece because the rosewood case is complimented by the exquisite Mother-Of-Pearl inlay and hand painted illustrations on the front panel of the instrument. Additionally instead of traditional ivory keys this piano's keys are also made of Mother-of-Pearl to match the inlay. This piano would have been one of the most elaborate, expensive instruments of its time.
This piano will be completely rebuilt & refinished to look and sound as it did when it first left the factory!
Once restored this piano can be outfitted with a state of the art digital player system, allowing the piano to play itself!
A historically accurate, matching piano stool may be included if desired.
