Description

This piano was built by the famous Steinway & Sons Piano Company in 1862, less than 10 years after Steinway was established in this country. This instrument is shown here before and after restoration – note the amazing transformation! The case is made of stunning rosewood which is hidden under the blackened deteriorated finish, and it is of the desirable cabriole leg style with carved music rack and pedal lyre. The instrument is elegantly carved and has a massive, handsome appearance. This piano has been equipped with computerized player mechanisms, allowing it to play by itself via a compact disc. This player installation does not impact the manual playability of the instrument in any way. A matching antique stool is included.
