DEPOSITS: The restoration of this instrument has not been completed. A 30% deposit is required on instruments pending restoration. This deposit holds the instrument and keeps it from being offered to other clients, and it also makes that piano’s restoration a priority. Once we complete the restoration, we invite the client to visit our shop to see and hear the piano. If the client is unable to visit our shop, we will send professional photos and videos of the piano for review. The client then has the option of paying the balance and purchasing the piano, transferring their balance to another piano in our shop, or getting a full refund for their deposit. The client is never at risk.

Description

The Starr Piano Company was one of the largest and most successful piano manufacturers in Indiana.  This elegant piano was built by Starr in 1903, the “Golden Age” of piano building in America.

This piano is a large, full size “upright grand”- it has longer strings and a bigger soundboard than a baby grand piano. This piano is made of stunning burl book-matched walnut wood and is of the Edwardian style.  The Edwardian period (named for the reign of King Edward VII) was a transitional period that stretched from the end of the 19thCentury until the first quarter of the 20thCentury.  This period saw design move away from the elaborately carved Victorian style to the more stream-lined “modern” styles of the 20thCentury. This is why your piano has such a simple elegant look with carved details without being “too much”.

This piano is made of beautiful book-matched walnut wood under the old dark finish.  When this piano is restored, it can go any shade of brown or amber a buyer desires.  If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system which allows the piano to play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device.  More than 10,000 songs are available!
