Beautiful Empire Revival Dubois & Seabury Square Piano In Exotic Flame Mahogany Wood
William Dubois was one of the most renowned American piano manufacturers of the 19thCentury. William Dubois built pianos under his own name until 1843 when he went into partnership with Charles Seabury to form the firm of “Dubois & Seabury”. The partnership of Dubois & Seabury was dissolved a year later in 1844. Pianos by Dubois & Seabury were built for only one short year. Surviving instruments by Dubois & Seabury are exceedingly rare today.
This piano is made of beautiful exotic grand mahogany wood (often referred to as “flame mahogany” or “crotch mahogany”) and is of the Empire Revival Victorian style.
This piano will be restored to like-new condition, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind. Unlike the harsh tone so often heard on new pianos, these antique square grand pianos have a softer, “harp-like” sound quality which is very pleasing to the ear. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc. More than 10,000 song titles are available!
