J & C Fischer Rococo Style Victorian Square Grand Piano
The J & C Fischer Piano Company was one of the largest and most successful piano manufacturers in New York. The tone, quality and durability of Fischer pianos won the firm high praise for well over a century.
This piano was built by the J & C Fischer Piano Company in 1877, making it one of their later square grand models. The piano is made of Brazilian Rosewood under the old deteriorated finish, and it is elegantly carved in the Rococo Victorian style with serpentine legs, carved music rack and pedal lyre. This is a rare 88-note square piano (most were only 85 notes), indicating the piano was one of the higher-grade, more expensive square grand models. The ivory keys have been remarkably well preserved, and the ivory and ebony will be cleaned and restored rather than replaced.
This piano is being restored to like-new condition, inside and out. A matching piano stool is included.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
