The Knabe name is still being produced today! During this era, Knabe was the official piano of the Metropolitan Opera. This beautiful piano was built in 1884, and is made of beautifully carved rosewood in the Rococo Victorian style (Brazilian Rosewood is now endangered, and nearly impossible to get in the United States as a result). It has heavily carved cabriole legs and an ornately carved pedal lyre. Notice the beautiful cut work around the music desk. The tone of this piano is unmatched by today’s instruments, and it is about half the price of a new piano of similar size.
This piano can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired. A matching bench is included.
