Description
Elegant Ivers & Pond Upright Piano in the Edwardian Style
This elegant piano was manufactured by The Ivers & Pond Piano Company in 1912. Ivers & Pond was one of Boston’s largest and most successful piano manufacturers. Their pianos were known to be of superior quality and craftsmanship. Because of their quality and reputation, Ivers & Pond was one of the few brand names to survive The Great Depression and two world wars.
The piano is made of imported Honduran Mahogany wood under the black paint and is of the Edwardian style. The Edwardian period (named for the reign of King Edward VII) was a transitional period that went from the elaborately carved Victorian style to the more stream-lined “modern” styles of the 20thCentury. This is why the piano has such a simple elegant look without being “too much”.
This piano is being completely restored, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind. This is a large full-size “upright grand” with a tone quality comparable to most baby grand pianos. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device. Thousands of song titles are available.
