Rare 19th Century Full Size Concert Grand by C. Bechstein
The Bechstein name is synonymous with Germany’s finest piano building, often considered the European equivalent to Steinway in America.
Restored antique Bechstein pianos are very popular and highly sought after in both Eastern and Western Europe, but they are a bit scarce in the United States. Characteristic to most German built pianos, vintage Bechstein pianos have a very distinct tone quality often described as melodic and especially clear. This distinct tone quality is what promoted Bechstein pianos to concert stages in Europe during the 19th and 20th Centuries. In fact, Bechstein pianos are still one of the most widely used pianos on the concert stage in Europe today.
This piano is a rare full-size 19th Century Bechstein Semi-Concert Grand, an instrument suitable for the concert stage. While most concert grand pianos were finished in black lacquer for institutional use, full-size concert grand pianos in rosewood are quite rare, indicating this piano was likely built for the large home of a discriminating pianist.
The piano is being restored to like-new condition, inside and out, and will rival the tone and touch of any new high-quality grand piano. A matching bench is included. Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired.
