DESCRIPTION

This is a rare and early square piano built by Andre' Stein d'Augsbourg a'Vienne.  Andre Stein built exceptionally well-made pianos and was one of Vienna’s most celebrated piano manufacturers.  Born into a family of piano makers, Andre’ Stein was the brother of famed piano maker Nanette Streicher, (nee Stein), who produced pianos for famed composer Ludwig Van Beethoven.

This lovely piano is made of exotic vertical-grain rosewood and is of the Empire Revival style.  Note the lovely candle holders on either side of the music rack which would illuminate the sheet music for the pianist.  This instrument has a soft “harp-like” tone quality that is often reflected in period movies like “Pride & Prejudice” and “Little Women”.  Instruments by Andre’ Stein are very rare here in the United States.

This piano will be restored to like-new condition, inside and out.  A matching piano stool is included.
