Steger & Sons built exceptionally high quality, expensive pianos from 1893-1956 in Chicago (Steger, IL). Steger celebrated many years of building marvelous pianos, but unfortunatly they are quite rare today.
The Steger & Sons Piano Company was one of the larger and more successful piano Chicago manufacturers in the early 20th Century. In fact, the suburb of “Steger, Illinois” was built around the Steger Piano Factory! Despite the vast success of Steger & Sons, their pianos are not one of the more well-known American piano brands. Steger & Sons built pianos of excellent quality and craftsmanship, and they are consistently very good sounding instruments.
This piano is a classic example of Steger & Sons piano building at its best. This piano is made of beautiful Honduran Mahogany wood and is of the Traditional style. It was built in 1922, the “Golden Age” of piano building in America. Even prior to restoration, the piano has a large, full sound. It will be a fantastic musical instrument once the restoration is complete. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
