Lovely Viennese-Built Piano by Gustav Hofbauer
Vienna Austria was once considered the musical capital of the world. During the 19th and early 20th Centuries there were a number of family-owned piano manufacturers scatter across Vienna. Most of these smaller manufacturers built pianos in modest numbers, and much historical information has been lost in time.
This beautiful instrument was built by Gustav Hofbauer in Vienna in the late 19th Century. The instrument is a modest size baby grand piano which would have been intended for small apartments or cottage homes of the 19th Century. The piano is made of an exotic vertical grain walnut wood and is of the Empire Revival style. The instrument has a light, lovely tone quality reminiscent of early forte pianos from the Romantic era.
This piano will be restored to like-new condition with a historical perspective in mind.
