DESCRIPTION

This beautiful Ludwig piano is an outstanding example of the lavish Victorian style in furniture design of the late 19th Century.  According to an original 19th Century Ludwig Advertisement, it was sold as the “Royal” model. Pianos of this caliber are very rare today and due to the high cost of the instrument when new, few were actually made.

The piano is made of beautiful Quarter Sawn Oak wood with heavily carved panels and intricate moldings.  Victorian pianos in ornately carved Quarter Sawn Oak wood are less common than mahogany or rosewood because the darker finishes were more popular at the time.  Since oak was a common domestic wood, it was not considered to be exotic and was rarely used for piano cabinets until the ‘teens and ‘twenties period.

This piano is being completely restored, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind.  If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device.  Thousands of song titles are available.
