Description
Rare Wm. McCammon Victorian Square Grand Piano in Brazilian Rosewood
William McCammon was a smaller scale manufacturer in Albany, NY. The firm built very well-made, high quality instruments from about 1832 – 1910. This beautiful piano was built by McCammon in 1874, a time when American manufacturers were producing more square pianos than uprights and grand pianos combined.
The cabinet is made of beautifully carved Brazilian Rosewood and is of the Rococo Victorian style. This piano was one of the larger, higher grade square piano models offered by McCammon. It features a full 88-note keyboard when most square pianos were built with 85 notes. The back of the piano is also built to be finished like the front of the piano which allows the instrument to sit in the middle of a room rather than against a wall, if desired. Note the legs were faux painted and a mirror added to the keyboard by a previous owner; the piano will be restored back to its original state, both inside and out, with historical accuracy.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device. Thousands of song titles are available.
