Kohler & Campbell was one of the largest and most successful piano manufacturers in New York
The Kohler & Campbell Piano Company was one of the largest and most successful piano manufacturers in New York City. Kohler & Campbell was known for building very high quality pianos at affordable prices. The firm was so successful that literally dozens of other well known piano companies contracted Kohler & Campbell to build their pianos under special contract.
This lovely piano was built by Kohler & Campbell in 1910. The piano is made of beautiful Hondruan Mahogany wood and is of the Edwardian style. The Edwardian period (named for the reign of King Edward VII) was a transitional period that stretched from the end of the 19thCentury until the first quarter of the 20thCentury. This period saw design move away from the elaborately carved Victorian style to the more stream-lined “modern” styles of the 20thCentury. This is why this piano has such a simple, elegant look with carved details without being “too much”.
This piano will be completely restored, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind. This is a large full-size “upright grand” with a tone quality comparable to most baby grand pianos. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device. Thousands of song titles are available.
