Instrument Description
This is a beautifully carved Victorian upright piano built by the New England Piano Company of Boston in 1893. Established as the New England Organ and Piano Company in 1871, this company had a reputation for making lavishly carved upright pianos and pump organs prior to the 20th Century. This piano is unique because of the unusual detail in the ornamental cabinetry. One has to appreciate the 19th Century craftsmanship that went into building this lavish piano. The piano is made of beautiful burl walnut wood which is hidden underneath the black paint. It is a bit smaller than the average upright piano, ideal for someone with limited space. This piano is being restored and refinished to like new condition, and it sounds as good as it looks. It comes with an original matching stool, and it can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired.
