Instrument Description
This unusual piano was built by the famous Behr Brothers Piano Company of New York in 1896. Behr Brothers built excellent pianos from about 1888-1953. This piano is made in the Eastlake Victorian style which was popular during the later part of the Victorian era. It has beautifully simple lines, carved pillars and trusses, and elegant moldings. Note how unusual the top is - the lid of the piano can be rolled back into the instrument to expose the strings and soundboard, allowing more tone and volume to be released. Once restored, it will be a magnificent musical instrument. It will be finished in a satin black lacquer finish, and an original matching stool is included. This piano can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired.
