Hammond
The Hammond Piano Company (not to be confused with the Hammond Organ Company) was owned and controlled by The Straube Piano Company of Hammond, Indiana.  The Hammond name was produced mainly during the 1900-1930 era, and they were built as an affordable alternative to the costlier “Staube” brand name while offering comparable quality.  Hammond built a line of very well-made player pianos under the “Mello-Harp” brand label.  Surviving Hammond pianos and player pianos we have seen come through our shop have been very well made, good-sounding instruments.
