Forbes, E. E.
The E. E. Forbes Piano Company was one of the largest retailers of pianos and organs in the Southern United States during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Forbes was established in Alabama in 1900, and had large retail stores in several major cities including Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery. Shortly after the turn-of-the-century, E. E. Forbes began manufacturing pianos and organs and selling them under his own name. Instruments with the Forbes name were marketed to be affordable alternatives to some of the costlier piano brands carried in their stores. Forbes enjoyed a great deal of success, and his instruments were sold all over the South Eastern United States. It appears that Forbes was out of business well before the Great Depression hit.
