This lovely little piano was the smallest baby grand piano offered by Knabe, and was sold as the "Style H Mignonette Horizontal Grand" in the vintage Knabe sales catalog (see photos). This piano was sold as the direct competitor to the Chickering "Quarter Grand", and was designed to be petite and formal in appearance for smaller homes and apartments.
In the early 20th Century, it was not uncommon for a wealthy client to visit the prominent Knabe Piano Factory, choose the instrument they preferred among all others, then have the factory commission a specialized cabinet maker and artist to design and build a custom cabinet around the instrument they chose. This piano would have been picked out among many for its fine tone quality, and then a small fortune spent to have the cabinet custom made to suit the client’s décor!
This one of a kind piano was built in 1910 and custom designed in theme with Old World Tuscany. The lavishly detailed art work depicts beautiful Italian scenery set in the Tuscan countryside. The lovely art work is amazing in its detail and vibrant color. The painted murals have been restored to perfection throughout.
This piano has been restored to like new condition, and it will rival the tone and touch of any high quality new baby grand piano. A new quality grand piano of similar size such as a Steinway or Yamaha could cost as much as double the price of this beautiful vintage instrument.
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
The original matching bench is included.
