DEPOSITS: The restoration of this instrument has not been completed. A 30% deposit is required on instruments pending restoration. This deposit holds the instrument and keeps it from being offered to another clients, and it also makes that piano's restoration a priority. Once we complete the restoration, we invite the client to visit our shop to see and hear the piano. If the client is unable to visit our shop, we will send professional photos and videos of the piano for review. The client then has the option of paying the balance and purchasing the piano, transferring their balance to another piano in our shop, or getting a full refund for their deposit. The client is never at risk.

DESCRIPTION

Charles M. Stieff was one of the more renowned piano manufacturers of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries, and they were commonly referred to as the “Poor Man’s Steinway”. Many Steinway dealers would sell Charles M. Stieff pianos as a more affordable alternative to the costlier Steinways, while offering comparable quality and craftsmanship. In many cases, we find Stieff pianos to actually be superior to names like Steinway.

This beautiful Stieff square grand piano is a classic example of the cabriole leg square piano built in America in late 19th century. This piano is being restored to like new condition, inside and out. It has heavily carved scalloping around the edges of the case, as well as an ornate grilled music rack depicting the "Stieff" name in the lattice work carvings. The pedal lyre has carvings which depict an American eagle, a motif often used by Stieff. This piano can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired. An original matching stool is included.
