DEPOSITS: The restoration of this instrument has not been completed. A 30% deposit is required on instruments pending restoration. This deposit holds the instrument and keeps it from being offered to another clients, and it also makes that piano's restoration a priority. Once we complete the restoration, we invite the client to visit our shop to see and hear the piano. If the client is unable to visit our shop, we will send professional photos and videos of the piano for review. The client then has the option of paying the balance and purchasing the piano, transferring their balance to another piano in our shop, or getting a full refund for their deposit. The client is never at risk.

DESCRIPTION

Steinway is said to have built the best pianos in the world. This is a beautiful example of an early elaborate model Steinway & Sons Victorian upright piano dating from 1879. These early Steinway upright pianos are very rare due to the popularity of the square piano during the mid-19th Century. It was not until around 1890 that the upright piano gained favor over the square piano in America.
This piano was originally sold as a Model G, Style 3 full upright piano. This model was the largest, fanciest, and most expensive upright piano in the Steinway product line, selling new for $1,000 - the cost of a small house in 1879! The tone quality of this amazing piano will rival any high quality upright piano built today.
This beautiful instrument is made of endangered Brazilian Rosewood with extensively carved legs, moldings and trim. Note the “S&S” trademark initials for “Steinway & Sons” carved in the lower fretwork panel. Only the finest Victorian parlor would have been privilege to house such an exquisite instrument!
This piano is being restored to like-new condition, inside and out. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
An original matching antique piano stool is included.
