Steinway is said to have built the best pianos in the world. This is a beautiful example of an early Steinway & Sons Victorian upright piano dating from 1868. It is made of lavishly carved rosewood, and has heavily carved cabriole legs and moldings. These early Steinway upright pianos are very rare due to the popularity of the square piano during the mid 19th Century. It was not until about 1885 that the upright piano gained favor over the square piano in America. Note the difference in the before and after photos the transformation is absolutely amazing. This piano has been completely restored from a historical perspective, and plays like the day it was built! This is a very rare opportunity to own a wonderful piece of American musical history! An original stool is included.
