Description
Elaborately decorated Rococo Style Smith-Atherton Square Grand Piano With Extremely Rare Mother Of Pearl Inlay
This piano was built by the Smith-Atherton Piano Company of New York City during the height of the lavish Victorian era. There is little information available about the Smith-Atherton firm in our archives, which tells us that it was most likely a small, family-owned company.
The cabinet is made of rare Brazilian Rosewood which was the standard for high quality building among the manufacturers of the time. Like other pianos by Smith-Atherton, the cabinet is decorated with exquisite Mother-Of-Pearl inlay and hand painted illustrations on the front panel of the instrument.
Instead of traditional ivory keys this piano’s keys are also made of Mother-of-Pearl to match the interior decoration and inlay. This piano would have been one of the most elaborate, expensive instruments of its time.
This piano will be completely rebuilt & refinished to look and sound as it did when it first left the factory! If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc. More than 10,000 song titles are available!
A historically accurate, matching piano stool may be included if desired.
