DEPOSITS: The restoration of this instrument has not been completed. A 30% deposit is required on instruments pending restoration. This deposit holds the instrument and keeps it from being offered to another clients, and it also makes that piano's restoration a priority. Once we complete the restoration, we invite the client to visit our shop to see and hear the piano. If the client is unable to visit our shop, we will send professional photos and videos of the piano for review. The client then has the option of paying the balance and purchasing the piano, transferring their balance to another piano in our shop, or getting a full refund for their deposit. The client is never at risk.

DESCRIPTION

Vienna Austria was once considered the musical capital of the world. During the 19th and early 20th Centuries there were a number of family-owned piano manufacturers scatter across Vienna. Most of these smaller manufacturers built pianos in modest numbers, and much historical information has been lost in time.
This beautiful instrument was built by Simon Homolak in Vienna shortly before his death in 1837. The piano appears to be later than 1837 in design and construction, which would indicate that possiblity that Homolak's family continued building pianos under the Homolak name, however there is no historical information we can find to support this theory. The instrument is a full size concert grand piano which would have been intended for stage performance use. The piano is made of an exotic vertical grain of burl walnut wood. The instrument is being restored to like new condition, inside and out.
It is fascinating to think that this piano would have been in use on the concert stage during Chopin’s lifetime!
