DESCRIPTION

The Mathushek Piano Company was one of the most advanced and foreword-thinking piano manufacturers of all time. In the 1930’s era, the Mathushek firm went against the norm and introduced a line of tiny square grand pianos called the “Spinet Grand”. These contemporary instruments were based on the same general design of Mathushek’s 19th Century square grand pianos, but they were redesigned in style and appearance so that they would fit well with modern décor. The Spinet Grand piano enjoyed moderate success during the 1930s and 1940s, but was never a substantial seller. They are quite rare today.

This Mathushek Spinet Grand was built in 1937, and is known as the “Early American” model. Note the beautiful octagon legs and carved moldings. This piano has been restored to perfection inside and out, and plays like the day it was built. Despite its small size, this piano has quite a bit of volume and power. It will surprise you! Computerized player mechanisms can be installed if desired. An original matching bench is included.
