Description
Classic Ludwig Player Piano in Mahogany Wood
Ludwig & Company was established in New York in 1889. The firm built high-quality, expensive pianos for several decades until The Great Depression.
This handsome player piano was built by Ludwig & Company in 1923, the “Golden Age” of piano building in America. The piano is made of imported Honduran Mahogany wood and is of the Colonial style. These photos show the piano after a previous owner removed the original finish which uncovered the lovely medium brown woodgrain. Due to the neutral shade of the original wood, this piano can be finished in a reddish mahogany or brownish mahogany color per the buyer’s request.
This piano was originally built as a pneumatically operated player piano which uses a perforated paper roll. The original paper roll system is driven by large foot-pumping pedals that can be accessed below the keyboard. This piano will be restored to like-new condition, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind.
A matching piano bench is included.
