YEAR: 1883
FINISH: Brazilian Rosewood
STATUS: Pending Restoration

Chickering & Sons was the first piano manufacturer in America, established in 1823, and is said to have built the finest pianos in the world. Long before names such as Steinway, etc., Chickering held top awards worldwide for piano design and manufacturing.

This lovely square piano was built by Chickering of Boston in 1883, making this one of their later and more evolved models.  The piano is made of Brazilian Rosewood under the old finish and is of the carved Rococo Victorian style.  Note the elaborate carvings on the legs and music rack, as well as the ornate casting in the metal harp inside.

This piano will be restored and refinished to like new condition, inside and out. The delicate "harp like" tone of these square pianos is very pleasant to listen to!  If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device.  Thousands of song titles are available.
