Description

This classic player piano was built by The Huntington Piano Company in 1918, during the golden age of American piano manufacturing. In 1900, the world-renowned pianist and composer Ignacy Paderewski personally endorsed The Huntington Piano Company, lending his name and reputation to their fine instruments. Beyond the endorsement itself, Paderewski ordered a Huntington piano for the “Paderewski Singing Society” of Chicago. The company proudly commemorated this connection by affixing labels inside their pianos featuring Paderewski’s photograph and written testimonial—a tribute that remains a fascinating piece of musical history.

This piano is crafted from imported Honduran mahogany beneath its original dark finish and is designed in the elegant Colonial style. Its clean, refined lines lend it a timeless simplicity, while its large, full-size “upright grand” scale provides string length and tonal depth comparable to that of a grand piano. Once restoration is complete, the instrument will look, play, and sound as it did when it first left the factory more than a century ago.

Originally built as a pneumatically operated player piano, this instrument will be upgraded with the modern Pianomation Player System (https://antiquepianoshop.com/restoration-packages/qrs-pianomation-player-installation/). This advanced system allows the piano to perform by itself, streaming live music from any smart device with thousands of song titles available—bringing the joy and charm of a vintage player piano into the modern age.
