DESCRIPTION

This stunning piano was built by Henry Gaehle in Baltimore a decade before the Civil War. Gaehle was originally a partner with William Knabe in the famous Knabe Piano Company, but their partnership ended in the early 1850's. Gaehle went on to build extremely high grade, expensive pianos under his own name for several years.

This piano is made of beautiful Brazilian Rosewood, and is of the Rococo Victorian style. The piano has a finished back, indicating it was designed to be used in the middle of a room rather than against a wall. Note the lovely adjustable candle holders at either side of the carved music stand. This piano even has it's original matching stool!

Pre Civil-War pianos that are this well preserved are very rare today. This piano is being restored to like new condition, inside and out.
