DESCRIPTION

This piano was built by the prestigious Gildemeester & Kroeger Piano Company of New York.  Henry C. Kroeger worked as one of Steinway’s primary designers and builders for 25 years before starting his own firm.  We find these pianos to be equivalent to (and often superior to) Steinway pianos of the era.

This piano is made of beautiful quarter sawn oak wood and is of the Eastlake Victorian style.  Imported dark and exotic woods were much more popular in furniture and piano building during this era.  Since oak was considered an inexpensive domestic wood, it was rarely used in high-end furniture and pianos during the Victorian period.  Oak Victorian pianos like this were built in small numbers and are quite rare today.  They are very desirable as a result.

This piano will be restored to like-new condition, inside and out.  It is a large, full size “upright grand” piano and will have the sound of a full grand piano after professional restoration.  If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system which will allow the instrument play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc. Thousands of song titles are available.
