This lovely piano is a superb example of Old World German piano craftsmanship at its finest.
This exceptional piano was built by F. Schilling of Germany in 1875. 19th Century Germany gave us some of the most amazing “Old World” quality and craftsmanship ever produced in the piano industry, and this piano is no exception. There is very little historical information about Schilling, but we do know that his was a smaller family owned firm based in Stuttgart during the last quarter of the 19th Century. These smaller family owned firms produced some of the finest pianos in history; only the best was good enough to prominently display the family name and crest.
Built of 300 year old solid oak wood, the cabinet is hand carved in exquisite detail with lovely solid brass candelabras affixed to the front panel on either side of the music rack. This piano is much evolved for its age and is fairly modern in design and construction. Because of its modern design, this piano has a thoroughly MODERN TONE QUALITY rather than the early “forte-piano” sound often found on 19th Century European instruments.
Pianos built with such extensive artistic detail were generally some of the most expensive instruments money could buy, often being the single most costly possession a family would own outside of the actual family home itself!
If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live on an iPod, computer, iPad, etc.
A matching oak piano stool is included.
