Exceptionally Rare Carhart & Needham Melodeon In Rococo Victorian Rosewood Cabinet
Out of stock
This is a beautiful melodeon built by Carhart & Needham in 1855. These instruments are small reed organs that are operated by pumping the large iron right pedal...the left pedal is volume control and operates a swell shutter. Carhart & Needham was one of the larger organ & melodeon manufacturers in 19th Century America. Their factory was located in New York City and their instruments were sold world wide. This melodeon is made of beautiful Rococo style rosewood with elegantly carved legs and carved moldings. These early instruments are very rare, and potentially quite valuable. An original stool is included.
