Description

This beautiful piano was built by the distinguished Bush & Gerts Piano Company of Chicago in 1900, during the golden age of American piano manufacturing. Founded in 1885, Bush & Gerts quickly established a reputation as one of the most respected piano makers in the United States, producing exceptionally high-quality instruments until the company ceased production in 1942. Their pianos were known for their superb craftsmanship, powerful tone, and elaborate cabinetry, and the company catered to an upper-end market that demanded both musical excellence and fine furniture quality. Upright pianos produced by Bush & Gerts are consistently among the most impressive instruments that pass through our shop, both in terms of their musical performance and their exceptional cabinet work.

The cabinet is beautifully crafted from richly figured walnut and features exceptional decorative details throughout. The case design includes finely carved inset panels, elegant moldings, and sculpted architectural elements that reflect the artistry and craftsmanship of early twentieth-century American furniture design. The warm tones and striking grain patterns of the walnut give the instrument a sense of depth and richness that is rarely seen in modern pianos, making it as visually captivating as it is musically satisfying.

In addition to its impressive cabinet work, this piano possesses a powerful and resonant tone that is characteristic of the Bush & Gerts brand. These instruments were built with substantial structural components and carefully designed scale patterns, allowing them to produce a rich, full sound that rivals many grand pianos. The tonal character is warm, expressive, and well balanced, making it an excellent instrument for both casual enjoyment and serious musical study.

This piano is currently undergoing a comprehensive restoration and will be returned to like-new condition both mechanically and cosmetically. Our restoration process addresses every aspect of the instrument, ensuring that it performs to the highest musical standards while preserving the beauty and historical character of the original cabinet. Once completed, the piano will provide many decades of reliable performance.

If desired, the piano can also be equipped with the QRS Pianomation player system. This remarkable technology allows the piano to perform automatically by streaming music wirelessly from a smartphone, tablet, computer, or other smart device. With access to thousands of available song titles, the system transforms the piano into a sophisticated entertainment instrument while still allowing it to function exactly like a traditional piano when played manually.

A matching antique piano stool is included with the instrument, completing the presentation and providing an authentic finishing touch that complements the elegance and historical charm of this exceptional piano.
