DESCRIPTION

This is one of the loveliest American made upright pianos we've ever seen in our shop. This piano was built by the prestigious Bradbury Piano Company of New York in the height of the lavish Victorian era. When new, a piano like this would have cost as much as $1,200...the cost of a small house!

What makes this piano especially unique is that is made of a rare exotic Carpathian Elm burl wood. While 19th Century English furniture and pianos are often made of light burl wood, most American pianos from this era were made of dark Rosewood and Mahogany which matched the dark, heavy Victorian style. The 19th Century American piano was far more evolved than the 19th Century English piano, so this piano is a rare opportunity for one to have both the beautiful European burl wood look combined with the advanced American quality and design.

Note the beautifully carved legs and lattice work. You can see the brand name BRADBURY carefully carved out in the center of the front panel. Upright pianos in the Rococo style are very rare, and the ones in exotic burl wood like this one are the rarest!

This piano is being restored to like new condition, inside and and out. It can be equipped with computerized player mechanisms if desired. A matching antique stool is included.
