Becker Brothers Upright Piano in the Edwardian style
The Becker Brothers Piano Company was known for building exceptionally well-made pianos from about 1892 – 1942. Even though the firm was in business for several decades, their pianos were built in relatively small numbers compared to other major manufacturers.
This beautiful piano was built by Butler Brothers in 1910. The piano is made of richly-figured walnut wood and is of the Edwardian style. The Edwardian period (named for the reign of King Edward VII) was a transitional period that stretched from the end of the 19th Century until the first quarter of the 20th Century. This period saw design move away from the elaborately carved Victorian style to the more stream-lined “modern” styles of the 20th Century. This is why this piano has such a simple, elegant look with carved details without being “too much”.
This piano will be completely restored, inside and out, with a historical perspective in mind. This is a large full-size “upright grand” with a tone quality comparable to most baby grand pianos. If desired, this piano can be equipped with the Pianomation player system, and can play by itself by streaming music live from any smart device. Thousands of song titles are available.
