Lovely Knabe Baby Grand Piano in the French Inspired Louis XV Style
This lovely baby grand piano was built by the famous Wm. Knabe & Company of Baltimore. Knabe was the official piano of the Metropolitan Opera for many years, and their pianos were famous for having rich, deep tones that were desirable for vocal accompaniment.
This piano is made of beautiful book-matched walnut wood and is of the carved Louis XV style. During the early 20thCentury, historic period styles became very popular in furniture and interior design. The French inspired Louis XV carved style was one of the more popular 20thCentury revival styles which remained popular for several decades. Note the elegantly carved legs, music rack and pedal lyre. These carved art-case pianos were more expensive than traditional models, and they were built in small numbers.
This piano will be restored to like-new condition, inside and out. Despite its smaller size, the instrument has a large, full tone quality sure to please the most discriminating musician.
