Whitney
The Whitney Piano & Supply Company of Chicago was originally established in about 1890 by Alvin Whitney, Arthur E. Whitney and Frank H. Whitney.  The firm was then officially incorporated in 1895, then was acquired by The W. W. Kimball Piano Company that same year.   Kimball built pianos under the “Whitney” brand name as a more affordable alternative to the costlier Kimball brand name while offering similar quality.  The Kimball Piano Company continued to build pianos under the Whitney name for over a century.  Kimball went out of business in 1996.
