Sommer, Sebastian
The Sebastian Sommer Piano Company was established in New York sometime around 1870. Their factory was located at 211 East 33rd Street. The firm had a good reputation for building high quality, durable pianos. Sommer marketed his instruments mostly to churches, schools and other institutions across the northeastern United States. Being a relatively small firm, Sommer never built a large volume of instruments, and they are quite rare today. Sommer seems to have been out of business sometime shortly after the turn-of-the-century.  Surviving pianos by Sebastian Sommer that have come through our restoration shop have been exceptionally well made pianos.
