The Smith-Atherton Piano Company was a small manufacturing firm in New York City during the middle to late 19th Century. Their factory was located at 645 Broadway, New York City. Unfortunately, there is little information available about the Smith-Atherton firm in our archives, which tells us that it was most likely a small, family-owned company. We have only seen square grand pianos by the firm, and it is not known if they built grand or upright pianos in addition to square grands. We have restored a handful of Smith-Atherton square pianos come through our shop over the years, and they are consistently some of the most elaborate, well made square pianos we see.
