The firm is of G. Heyl was established in Borna, Germany in 1828. There is very little historical information about G. Heyl, but it is speculated that this firm was a smaller-scale family owned firm due to the rarity of surviving instruments today. The few instruments by G. Heyl that we have seen have been made of superior craftsmanship and quality, a trademark of 19th Century German piano builders.
